Where to Eat...

Breakfast

I went out with my step mom and sister to have a bonding activity. I was new in Key West so they decided to show me around. We ate at Island Joe's Coffee. My half sister was the one who suggested the place. She said she and her friends frequently go there for breakfast and lunch. True to what she said, Island Joe's serves savory breakfast. What I really loved was their Breakfast Wrap. It's a grilled flour tortilla wrap with eggs, cheddar and Monterrey cheese, fresh salsa and bacon on the inside. The Caramel Pear and Apple Strudel are simply heavenly. And since it's also a coffee roasting company, I thought breakfast would be incomplete without a cup of their freshly brewed coffee.

Lunch

Southernmost Beach Cafe is our lunch stop. It's located on Duval Street and boy I must say the nachos were awesome! Having a bite of their Southernmost Cafe Beach Nacho was just unbeatable. I loved the taste of pepper jack cheese and jalapenos, black beans, salsa and sour cream on my tri-colored tortillas. My step mom said the blackened fresh catch is also a must try at $11.95. My sister, on the other hand, didn't mind eating her peel and eat shrimp the dirty style. The peel and eat shrimp was marinated in beer and Old Bay seasoning and is served with hot cocktail sauce. I must try that one also when we go back there for another meal. For dessert, we had a warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. Just so yummy!

Dinner

Our dinner at The Grand Cafe was another perfect hit. How I loved the Chilled Norwegian Smoked Salmon and the Grilled Blue fin Tuna. I can still taste the Tomato Bisque with Jumbo Crab on my mouth. The place looked luxurious but the price is not that overly expensive.

What to Do...

Morning

Speed racing isn't only for men! Together with my step mom and sister, we proved that women can take over the wheels as well. I've always wanted to drive a NASCAR and this dream was finally fulfilled when we went to Key West Speedway. Well, in a way, it was. Although it was just a NASCAR simulation race, it was very realistic. I swore I raced at more than 200 mph and no one could be me that day. It was fun for the three of us.

Afternoon

I was able to relive the life of the wreckers in Key West when we drove to Shipwreck Museum. At the same time, I discovered many things about them and saw some really interesting artifacts from the Isaac Allerton shipwreck. Visiting the Shipwreck Museum was a nice thing since I was able to learn about the sinking of Isaac Allerton and how the crew fought the storms to save their lives on the Florida Keys.

Evening

We still had a brief time to spend so we checked out some shops and stores on Duval Street. Among these shops are Fast Buck Freddie's, Island Store and Foots Artwork. Too bad some shops were already closed that time. I still wanted to see more but I know there will still be next time.
