| >My friends invited me to join their road adventure to Key West. I didn't hesitate and accepted the invitation for two reasons: they are my closest friends since high school and Key West is a nice destination for a road trip. We went to Danger Charters for a sailing, kayaking and snorkeling adventure. The waters of Florida are perfect for snorkeling because of the island's topography and flats surrounding the Danger Charters in Key West. The water is so clear that we even saw some tropical fish, coral and sponge gardens. Before we snorkeled, we were first given quick snorkeling instructions and assistance. We were also provided with snorkeling gear and soft drinks, water and beer after snorkeling. It was really cool. El Siboney was our next stop. They serve very good Cuban food at reasonable prices. An average meal of $12 is enough to solve your hunger. We enjoyed the festive ambiance, making our dining experience more enjoyable. I ordered Siboney Steak while my friends had Shrimp Enchilado, Grilled Snapper Fillet and Palomilla Steak. The Natilla and Flan for dessert were perfect to end the meal. Our next road trip destination was the Audubon House & Tropical Gardens located at 205 Whitehead St. The garden features different kinds and colors of orchids and bromeliads. Aside from the flowers, there were also herbs and shady trees. The place was very interesting and the staff is kind to everyone. For aspiring painters, some strokes of the paint brush during Art Classes in the Garden may be your ticket to fame. Since we were already there, we sat in on one of the art classes. It's actually a six-week session, but they were very accommodating and I'd really like to go back to take to Key West and take more classes. Imagine painting in the shady gardens of Audubon House and Tropical Gardens. You will surely get all the inspiration you need from the beautiful scenery. All in all, it was just another great experience with old friends and new friends. I recommend anyone to take a road trip to Key West, but first look up suggestions as to where to go on KeyWestMetro.travel where you can see where to stay and play. |
