| Key West is one of the best vacation destinations in Florida and maybe even the world, thanks to its pristine beaches and many incredible attractions. But if Key West's attractions are not enough to satisfy your need for adventure, then I suggest taking the short road trip from Key West to the Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve. The Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve is a 4,600-acre area of seagrass meadows, hard bottom communities, mangrove wetlands and coral patch reefs. Here you can see a wide variety of sponges, soft corals, hard corals and algae, particularly along the southern boundary. The place is also home to wading birds that you can often see foraging in the shallow waters of the tropical lagoon and amongst the mangroves. Key Deer can also be spotted foraging in the area. Some of the activities that you can enjoy at the Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve include boating, snorkeling, diving, commercial fishing, marine life observation, charter sport fishing and recreational fishing for finfish and lobster during season. |
